Welcome this fresh start
With a warm greeting to it beginning
Gather all your stars for this chapter
And write your heart on this page
Let it worth it
Let it be you
In your bid to tell your story
Learn something new from what's few
In your deeds to hold your glory
Fight for your course at dew
In this saying, be bold to evolve
Time to be your own time-keeper
Pray and play to score your goals
Slay your plans like a merchant king
And be held keen to win
Salute to the calls of your destiny
It's a fresh start
- to walk the orbit of the sun
Analysis and Review of the poem
A short poem of eighteen lines titled “new year resolution” written by Okoro Amarachi Anastasia. A poem that prepares its audiences on how to combat this year 2025. The tone of speaker is agile and a little bit confronting. Advising and giving wisdom on how to handle this year. There is no use of rhyme scheme. Though it has rhythm. The language of the simple and narrative.
The theme of the poem is seen in the flow of the subject matter. The speaker is telling on how to welcome the new with sense of hope and readiness to makes some achievement. The speaker shared her wisdom about how her audience should position themselves in other to gain success and attain great height. One significant thing, the speaker pointed out/ advise others to do is to learn and unlearn thus year. Stay grateful, show good attitude, welcome the year to joy, be positive about the outcome, make plan and execute them wisely like a business man (the speaker used the word “merchant” in the poem), be prepared for what the future holds as we build each moment with our inner strength and faith.
Personally, this poem touch different points at the same time. However, the intent of the speaker is to build a strong sense of responsibility in mind of its readers.
