Wheels keep spinning by, the cycle is not over.
And as the morning greets the azure sky.
Roads of life open, take a look and ponder.
Shadows of the past can’t easily fly.
Changes are constant, live your dream, build your goal.
Dimming days shall unfold, nurture your young soul.
The old path soon will fade and a new path will come.
Generation of youth with power and wisdom.
Young children of today, the future waits you all.
Turn the dark night into a gleaming day,
Hear your beloved country, hear the nation’s call.
You can make difference in your own way.
You are a clay of hope shaped by inspiration.
And like a tree, you bloom bearing a fruit,
Of awakened voices, bringing a solution.
Arise you- brave, gentle and humble youth!
The future lies on you, the old ones shall rest.
The seeds they’ve sown will reap, you all will harvest.
“Hope on Thy Motherland”, our great hero have said.
Stand with deep courage, victory is never dead.
With faith, together we will reach the pinnacle.
Guided by good examples, not walking astray.
But building unity, becoming a model-
Because the future lies to the youth of today.
Analysis and Review of the poem by Okoro Amarachi Anastasia
A beautiful poem written by Mac Adrone Adonay talking about the passage of time in life of youths and how they should utilize it and make their future a bright one. This is a poem a twenty four lines with four stanzas (with six lines on each stanza). The tone of the speaker is soft and inspirational, giving a vital advise of life to the young generation. The diction or language of the poem is simple and narrative. Just like the title suggest, the themeof the poem centered on youth as the leader of tomorrow and shaping their future with a sense of responsibility. There are a lot poetic devices applied in the poem such as imagery, personification, simile, allegory, alliteration… the poem has no rhyme scheme.
Stanza one of the poem start by creating an awareness on the dynamic of time with constant change in the passing time. It painting a powerful imagery in mind of readers on ever changing part of life as growth take place and advise young people to take advantage of that build their life. The speaker stated in line “changes are constant…”
Stanza two opens up a great sense of responsibility in mind of the reader telling the young ones to make a difference in own time. Here, the readers made clear his point, his theme and his pledge. He point out what they represent and giving them a vision with a mission that bring about change in their nation.
Stanza three is more of reflection on the identity of the youth, building up an expectation from it. I love how the speaker metaphorically describe the youth “a clay of hope shaped by inspiration”. That's phrase motivate the reader and become a mirror on how they see themselves.
Finally, the tone speaker became rigid acting as a voice to motivate youths to take a bold and courage step to build the future of their country, homes and nations.
Personally, this poem is an amazing piece of art that is so important to young generation of today. I love the poet ended the poem with a reminder to the youth that the future lies in their hands.
