You represent so much hope,
A life full of dream
Of vigor and vitality
A body of force and change
In a generation of chaos and confusion
Only to have everything broken by the time
the clock struck adulthood.
Analysis and Review of the poem by Okoro Amarachi Anastasia.
An short impactful poem written to encourage the youth about by value and worthy. This is a poem that introduced the youth to the world. It is a poem of seven lines with no rhyme scheme or rythme. The language is simple and easy to understand while the tone of speaker is rigid and bold. It is a voice that speak for the youth, telling the world their essence and what they represent.
Looking at the first line, the poet makes it like that youths represent so much hope. So full of life and dream. Giving us a clear picture of a leader and strong figure that the world needs to survive or become better. The speaker attributed the body of youths to “force and change” in a generation of chaos and confusion. This signifies the potent, strength and the stability of youths in their worlds. The poet also makes it clear about the reality and conditions of these youths, which is not a favourable one, it is filled with trouble and chaos yet they survived a mist the odd. The poem ended with a sad truth, about the misfortune of events or outcome that took place within spin of time. It's tragedy that everything they once represent or choose to be was broken when the torns of adulthood break in with time.
There are applications of poetic devices such as metaphor in line 1 “You represent so much hope” and “A life full of dream” . Also, there is use of Personification which is seen in lin seven “…the clock struck adulthood”.
