I dream of ducks and horses, surpassing dark forces
I dream of adventure in the clouds, the dangers abound
For am less a scaredy cat, and more a declared He-Bat
A statue on your Iroko tree, hanging on my own dreams
I dream sickly I could see, and flip weekly to the blue sea
I dream of light for my own sight, it seems right for my lone' flight
Analysis/ Review of the poem.
An interesting poem written by Kevin J. Muricio that has six stanza consisting of couplet each. A poem has rhyme scheme with rhythm in each verse/stanza. The theme of the poem solely focus on intrepidness of one desire to attain their ambition. No dream is too small or to big to be achieve, every dream is possible to attain. No matter how scary one dream might look or sound, the dreamer can achieve it if he/ she dares to try.
This is an encouraging poem that foster one courage to birth their goals they have setted in life. Looking at the first line speaking of our strength, and the willingness to achieve what looks impossible. The second stanza is straightforward and direct, which sound relatable to youths, cos they love taking risks and exploring new things. The third and the fourth stanza says emphasis on one nature ability which doesn't equate to his dream, yet, he choose to dream still.
In conclusion, stanza five and six made it clear that whatever cost or wrong comes with his dream or what he chose to be, its seem right to him. Here, I believe that poet intent is to send a message to his audience regarding to what they want to be and who they what to be in live. What price to pay and how much are they will be sacrifice to realize their vision or dream in life.
The figurative devices used in the poem, are repetition. The word “I dream” was repeated four times in the poem (line 1, 2, 5 & 6). The use of alliteration is seen in first stanza. Also there is an application of Personification in line 4 and five.
