You know what life says
When children are at playing field
“It says they will never learn till dawn of adulthood clocks”
Life was right when time riped
Cos I am one of the choosen ones
Who tasted the bitter truth
From heart break to self wreck
And saddest part of growing up
Is that the world turn a blind eye
But I have little light with me
That lies in chamber of my heart
So to guide my youthful path
Till i arrived on the road of success
Analysis/ Review of the poem.
An interesting poem written by Okoro Amarachi Anastasia on life. This is a poem of one stanza with no rhyme scheme and it is written in a prose-like form. The poem open two chapters of life. One when we are younger or kids and the other is surface the journey of life when we are older. The poem show the realistic view of life and what it comes with adulthood. The tone of the poet is rigid and simple.
The message of poet is direct and understood as it mirrors the transition that takes place from childhood to adulthood. Life when we are young is easy and sweet. The truth is that children don't understand the reality of life till they began to grow into adulthood which comes with so much responsible and expectations. Life is not fairytale or filled with bed of roses like children taught it is. They get what ever they want from their parents and they think they world owes them. That is not true. Looking at the poem, the poet drew a deep lesson from life experiences to show the readers the shift in perspective of life from childhood to adulthood. How hard and unbelievable for children to accept the true of color of life.
The poet also show the sad part of growing up which comes with negligence from the society, the burden of responsibility, the pursuit of ones goal, the quest to become successful, etc. It is lie to say that adulthood comes with loneliness despite being surrounded with people. Sometime, it seems like no one understands you or see what you are through. There is lesser time to chill, play, relax and enjoy and most time the tension and anxiety that comes with it takes is peace of mind. The poet concluded the poem so well, with a self encouragement with walk with the light (the hope of the future) in her. The light in that context is confidence, faith, trust, potentials, strength, zeal, hope, focus, etc. This is an important message to the youths to guild their light and shine and in doing that, they can obtain success.
