Analysis/ Review of the poem.
A beautiful poem written by Okoro Amarachi Anastasia, that highlighted what twenties represents and means. This is a poem that center on life of twenties (what has happens and what is expected). This is a poem of fifteen lines with one stanza and a rhyme scheme which occurs at the beginning of each line caused by repetition of the same word “20s”. The tone of poet is persuasive and impactful. The poet is written in a tradition style of writing. It is a poem that is so relatable that it inspires every youth to delve deep into themselves and discover who they truly are.
The theme of the poem captured an interesting message that lectures the youth on everything about their twenties. It’s a lie to say that twenties is the center of everything they dream to become. It’s the climax and apex of the evolution of our purpose. This is the phase of life where we witness the good and the bad, the ups and downs, fall and the rise, the pain and the joy, the weeping and laughter, the laziness and the determination, the fears and the courage, the love and the hate, the passions and hope. The poem fills the void of the mind of every young child growing to face the reality of life and it prepares one’s heart to embrace such season of their life with love, patience, wisdom and grace.
One significant poetics devices employed in this poem is repetition which give the poem rhythm. The repetition of the phrase “20s is for…” at every beginning of every line.
