Oh youths!, raise your words not your voice.
It is rain that grows flower not thunder.
Oh youths!, speak your truth not your fuss.
It is peace that alters the world not war.
Oh youths!, salute your patriotism not your Reproach.
It is heart that wages the war not strength.
Oh youths!, sings your songs not wrongs.
For its melody that heals us not the grief.
Oh youths, Embrace your grace or rage.
It’s an eyes for an eye makes the world blind.
Oh youths, remember your root not the fruit.
It is the ways of water that shapes our reflection.
Oh youths, write on your path not your palms.
It's tells you when you're living in your dream.
Oh youth, be a generational a blessings not a curse.
For you’re the knight that rides future course.
Review of the poem written by Okoro Amarachi Anastasia. Pen name: I.C Amar.
This is one of most meaningful poem written by the poet that cover a wide range of thoughts. This a poem of sixteen lines with eight stanza, couplet each.
One striking point of the poem is to restore the rights/duties/obligation and position of the youth. A poem that give youths voice to speak. The poem reminds youths of what’s expected from there. It amicably reconcile the gap between ideal youths and realistic youth, giving a useful insight on what they will do.
In analyzing stanza one, the poet simply made an instructive statement “raise your words, not your voice” which address the unfruitful/ violent protests and internet complaints. Your words are content of the information, you want to pass across not noise or how loud. In addressing the issue of life we should always choose peace over violence. The poet used Stanze 2,3,4 and 5 to emphasize this theme of the poem. Showing her fellow youths that they are better way to do things or become of solution. Choosing truth over fuss, patriotism over reproach, songs over wrongs, grace over rage. Here, the poet provided wisdom to her readers.
Another theme of the poem was highlighted in stanza six and seven when the poet denote the meaning of purpose / living. It captures the moment where youths are still trying to figure out what /who they want to be in life. The path they want to walk on which will automatically will be affected or influenced by the decision they take in life. Here, the poet remind the youth to always remember where they came from and who they are, which she refer to as “your root” for the youths are fruit of their root. This defines / direct the steps they want to take in life.
Finally, the poet urge her fellow youth to be a generational blessing (solutions, impactful, significant, productive, etc) not a curse (problem to the society), ending her poem with reason that we (youths) are the future and we shape it with what/ who we choose to become.
