Food for all the hunger, starvation and need,
Hope this little spark will not remain a seed.
Let my soul be planted in the Indian soil
The seed shall grow, fruit and disperse as I toil
Material- will not bog me,
Pleasure- will not sog me
We are the Indian youth.
We fight for justice and truth
Material- will not bog me,
Pleasure- will not sog me
We are the Indian youth.
We fight for justice and truth
Into the broad daylight
Wiping the darkness tight
Bellowing against the misrule
Arrive the patriots- cool!
Words flow a plenty,
Thoughts remain the same
I vow my existence
Is not of a dainty dame
Something within persists me
It tells me, calls my name!
Either die for your nation
Or just live in shame
And friends, this is not the end,
For millions follow the trend
Each of us loves our world, our nation!
And youth we are its best creation……..!
Analysis and Review of the poem by Okoro Amarachi Anastasia
A great poem written by Apurva Iyengar to pass across vital message to the youths. Audience of the poem is very specific and that is indian youth, however Nigeria and other Africa youths can learn from this and gain value from it. It is poem of twenty-four with five stanza. This is written in second person pronoun, speaking to and about the indian youth.it has rhyme scheme and rhythms. it is written as blank verse poem and in a narrative form. The tone of the poem advocate and advise them.
The theme of the poem centered on hope and strength for the youth and children of Indian who facing hardship, starvation and crisis, etc. The first portraits such scenes show a devastating state. The second stanza talks about justice and truth for the youth. The third stanza talks about misrule, political mishaps, etc. Stanza talks about the rise to bring about change and fight for what is right or die in shame. This responsibility lies on the youths. I believe that Africa youths, should share similar thought pattern. Taking up an action to bring change to their nation.
Finally, the last stanza gave a sense of hope that things will be stable and normal, showing a sign of love and acknowledge the youth as the best creation, because of their potential, ability and strength to bring about change.
